Sir Alec Guinness, CH CBE (born Alec Guinness de Cuffe; April 2, 1914 – August 5, 2000) was an English actor who was known for being featured in the Ealing Comedies series of comedy films, including his portrayal of eight different characters in Kind Hearts and Coronets. He was also best known for his collaborations with director David Lean in Great Expectations, Oliver Twist, The Bridge on the River Kwai, Lawrence of Arabia, Doctor Zhivago, and A Passage to India. He won the Academy Award for Best Actor for his role in The Bridge on the River Kwai.

For Lucasfilm, he portrayed Obi-Wan "Ben" Kenobi in the original Star Wars trilogy.
