Crait is a planet that appears in the 2017 film Star Wars Episode VIII: The Last Jedi. It is a barren mineral planet covered in salt.
Background[]
Due to the planet's minimal resources, few forms of life can grow on the planet, and is thus very undeveloped. Although its landscapes are stark white due to the salt minerals, the planet contains red amirite crystals under the surface and large rhodochrosite at the planet's core. Deep inside of Crait are large mineral caverns underneath Crait's oceans. There are mines across the planet for harvesting Craig's minerals.
In the early days of the Empire, Crait became a Rebel Alliance base by Bail Organa. Sometime after the Empire fells, the base on Crait was abandoned, and is now a haven for Resistance forces.
